9/10/2023 0 Comments Chromecast with google tv plexThe fact that the display sequence is random, and I don't know of any "Ambient Mode Compatible" message makes it all feel very slapdash. I've added 200 photos in the album, and I'm guessing roughly half of them currently display and I can't figure out why the ones that don't don't. I really like the ambient mode feature where you can connect an album in Google Photos, but it seems like I'm just stuck throwing photos in the album and seeing what sticks. TLDR: Its very similar to the Firestick 4K.I recently got a Chromecast with Google TV to beef up our cheap Hisense's performance. Please let me know if you have any specific questions. UI is a little bit better than the Firestick 4K and it seems to be a little better at very high bitrates on the network end. I would probably recommend this to anyone who doesnt want lossless audio or dolby vision. Best example of this is the Wandavision releases with DV that freeze up after a short bit. You get the same DV issues you get on the Shield with some of the new streaming based DV content. Stability, seems about the same as the Shield. I would say on par or a little behind Shield Pro. All DTS formats get converted to PCM but this is not a transcode. Audio support is limited to DD, DD+, DD+Atmos. So it handles PGS and SRT, ASS is transcoded. Subtitle support is the same as the Shield. Oddly all DTS formats are fine as well but it converts them to PCM. It also can not play true hd tracks with Dolby Vision as it kicks it down to HDR10. It can handle MEL but not FEL Dolby Vision. Dolby vision is mixed like the Fire Stick 4K. The Firestick 4K gets really close to this level of performance and obviously the Apple TV 4K and Shield can do it too. I tried several movies that were over 100Mbs with no issues at all. It had no problem playing over 100Mbs 4K remux over wifi. It is updated with the newest firmware that just came out a few days ago. Today I picked up the Chromecast with Google TV. So I have pretty much every Plex client out there.
